The Truth About My Strawberries

My strawberries are LOVING the new backyard ♥ Lush green leaves and little blossoms... Survivor blossoms...Survivors of my 5 days out of town. 5 days of no rain, nor watering instructions.Luckily, I was grateful for the plants I once had...and I'm grateful for the hardiness of the survivors... I can't wait to be grateful for these again! ♥

I witnessed a Blooming

While it wasn't the ones we'd be eyeballing, a white rose quietly bloomed for our collective appreciationthe begonias (not fuchsia) were bright and happyeverything about calla lilies is beautiful
(except perhaps the effects of their pollen, eh, Joanna?)

Gramma's Backyard

One of my favorite parts of our recent vacation was the time I spent with this beautiful woman: Evangeline Venus, Mitch's Gran, Hayden's Gramma Baby, Granny to me ♥ We got to sit in the California sunshine and talk about backyards - past, present and imagined.
We first had tea from this pot, in the house that used to have a swimmable pool in the backyard. Mitch learned to swim at her house, in her pool. Hayden climbed the orange tree that grew in the dirt that filled her pool. We had tea again, in a new backyard. This one belonged only to the lizards, back when there was water in the Pacoima pool.
We got to talk of all the amazing growth in the past 4 years. We remembered, with only a few more tears, Hannah and Hayden climbing the walls and playing in the empty beds.
Blue sky, vibrant flowers and a mountain view... all the reasons people live here to begin with!
Oh the smell of flowering Rosemary! I remembered the gigantic basil that had lived in Gramma Mimi's Panorama City backyard, which moved to the Pacoima backyard - my kids would smell like Italian food from lapping the pool garden.
Roses, beautiful even when not in bloom.
I don't know what this one's called, I found it both disturbing and comforting how it represents the beauty of a full life cycle in one moment...Granny was hoping we'd be around for the full blooming of the roses. I know she's enjoying them in my stead, thinking of me.
